At BreastScreen Victoria, we believe in the power of collective voices and lived experiences to drive meaningful change in our breast cancer screening program and client care.
As part of our commitment to improving our service, we rely on the guidance and support of our Advisory Groups. Currently, our Consumer Advisory and Aboriginal Advisory groups are made up of diverse individuals who bring a wide range of knowledge, experience, and perspectives. They help us shape a client breast screening experience that is accessible, inclusive, culturally safe and supportive for everyone.
We are also excited to introduce a new Disability Advisory Group following the launch of our Disability Action Plan in 2024.
Our Advisory Groups play an important role with members sharing their direct lived experience as clients of our service. Their insights help us understand opportunities to improve our service and how we might support Victorians who may have barriers to participating relating to location, culture, social issues, gender or age. By listening to these experiences, we ensure our service meets the needs of those we serve.
As a client-focused organisation, our Advisory Groups ensure BreastScreen Victoria remains a trusted and inclusive service.
We are seeking people who have direct lived experience of screening with our service from across Victoria. Our Advisory Groups meet up to four times a year, either in person or online, for around two hours per meeting. Members of our Advisory Groups will be reimbursed for their time.
We are looking for a diverse group of women and people from trans and gender community with strong listening skills and the ability to respectfully engage in discussions with both the group and the BreastScreen Victoria team.
