BreastScreen Victoria appoints a new CEO

BreastScreen Victoria is delighted to announce Rita Butera as our new CEO.

Ms Butera will join us from Safe Steps Family Violence Response, where she has served as CEO for three years. Before this, Ms Butera spent over 11 years at Women’s Health Victoria as CEO and Executive Director, and has also worked in senior roles at Beyond Blue and VicHealth. BreastScreen Victoria will greatly benefit from Ms Butera’s extensive experience and in-depth knowledge of women’s health.

We bid a fond farewell to Terri Smith and thank her for her leadership and dedication as BreastScreen Victoria’s CEO over the last two years.

Ms Smith joined our organisation in April 2020. Since then, her leadership has kept BreastScreen Victoria steady through the COVID-19 pandemic, one of our most challenging periods, and she has driven positive change by introducing our new Strategic Plan 2021-2025. We wish her well in her retirement.

Ms Butera starts as the CEO of BreastScreen Victoria on Monday, 11 July. In the interim, Luke Neill, Director Corporate Services, is Acting CEO.
