This project works in partnership with the Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (VACCHO), Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation (ACCOs) and Aboriginal-led services to provide culturally safe breast screens for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women. Since 2018, the project has helped over 1,100 women feel empowered during their screening appointments.

Rita Butera, BreastScreen Victoria CEO, said, "We are incredibly proud to be recognised for this important initiative, as it demonstrates that collaboration and community-led efforts are essential to achieve equitable access to our life-saving service."

We acknowledge the significant achievement of our Multicultural Project as a finalist in the 2024 Awards, and we would like to thank both current and former staff for their contributions to this project.
