BreastScreen Victoria is recruiting Women’s Health Nurse Practitioners to work in our Women’s Health Mobile Clinic.

  • Selection Criteria:
    • You offer excellent clinical skills and knowledge of contemporary women’s healthcare along with exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to work autonomously. 
    • You can travel and live away from home in rural Victorian locations.
    • You must have the training and qualifications to provide Implanon insertions/removals and Cervical Screening Tests.  

    In addition, you have completed or are willing to complete:

    • Cultural safety training with a recognised Aboriginal-led training provider 
    • LGBTIQA+ cultural awareness and inclusivity training.
    • You have current Registration and endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) administered through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Position Summary:

    This 12-month pilot project is trialing a nurse-led mobile clinic that aims to increase access to sexual and reproductive healthcare and general wellbeing for women of all ages living in rural and regional Victoria. The service aims to provide a high-quality, culturally safe and inclusive healthcare experience for women and people with a cervix.

    The clinic operates from our mobile breast screening van which provides breast screening to women in rural Victoria. In each location the van visits, we also secure a treatment room for the Nurse Practitioner to undertaken clinical examinations and procedures. The Nurse Practitioner is supported remotely by a team, including a Mobile Clinic Nurse Coordinator with clinical guidance/expertise provided by the Clinical Director – GP.

     

    About the role: 

    • You will provide women’s health services including contraception consultations, STI screens, perimenopause/menopause care, pregnancy options counselling and referrals, cervical and bowel screening consultations, and general women’s health and wellbeing consultations. 
    • You will provide prescriptions and make referrals to other healthcare services, pathology and radiology providers as required.
    • You will engage with local stakeholders in each town about the Mobile Clinic and may provide education sessions to groups, such as high school students and women’s community groups.

    The role is a casual position, however, if you are interested in other alternatives please be in touch. The mobile clinic will visit locations for periods from one week to five weeks, an ability to commit to completing all shifts in one location is required. An itinerant allowance is paid when living away from home. The shifts will generally be 7.6 hours per day from Monday to Friday, with slightly varied start and finish times.
